St Teresa’s Senior Primary School launched their Secret Scarf Challenge

St Teresa’s School will partner with 67 Blankets for Nelson Mandela Day in their Secret Scarf Challenge to make scarves to be distributed on Mandela Day to those in need.

To mark the first day of Lent, St Teresa’s Senior Primary School launched its Secret Scarf Challenge on Ash Wednesday, February 22.

St Teresa’s marketing and advertising officer Lianda May said Lent was a time of prayer, fasting, and giving to others.

“This year, St Teresa’s School will once again partner with 67 Blankets for Nelson Mandela Day in their Secret Scarf Challenge to make scarves to be distributed on Mandela Day to those in need. Our Grade 7 Care Group sold ice lollies and raised R1 800 so far to buy wool which will be added to the donation received from 67 Blankets for Nelson Mandela Day.”

The school will continue to raise money for wool by selling popcorn, and the Needlework Club at St Teresa’s Senior Primary, under the guidance of Marianne Bam (a school teacher), has started knitting and crocheting scarves to increase the 300 scarves donated last year.

May encouraged the wider Rosebank community to get involved to help knit as many scarves as possible and wool could be collected from the Senior Primary Office at 14 Keyes Ave and completed scarves can also be dropped off there.
