Suspect found in possession of a stolen motor gate battery

The spokesperson for Norwood Police Station Sergeant Eric Masotsha encourages people to report any suspicious activities.

Norwood police and the private security companies in the area and surrounds continue to keep the area safe and protected.

Norwood Police Station Commander Colonel Logan Govender applauded his police members and the private security company for working together in the fight against crime.

Warrant Officer Eric Masotsha, the spokesperson for the Norwood police, said on February 8 a local private security member stopped a suspicious person who was pushing a trolley in Highlands North and called the police.

“After stopping the person, the police were called to search his trolley and found two motor gate batteries inside the carry bag in his trolley.”

According to Masotsha, the suspect was asked where he got the batteries but failed to provide reasonable explanations.

“The suspect has been detained for possession of suspected stolen property and will appear before a court of law in due course.”

He concluded by saying if one saw any person pushing a trolley carrying suspicious items, they should call the police or inform any private security members who were patrolling around the areas.
