Zoo Lake Bowling Club hosts Oasis Haven initiative
Oasis Haven's dream is for every vulnerable child to be in a loving, forever family.
Oasis Haven‘s amazing race held on October 22 at Zoo Lake Bowling Club unites donors.
The haven’s fundraising manager, Qondani Tshuma, said the event was their first outdoor activity in the past two years.
“The reason we decided to host The Amazing Race was because after the restrictions we didn’t have a touch point with our donors – instead, we have been doing a lot of online events. This was a way to not only raise funds for children’s care but to also meet our sponsors and people who have supported us during tough times and to overall have fun.”

Matt Gray from the winning team explained that she did not expect her family to win.
“Winning feels good especially because we had children in our team. I would say planning our different routes prior and keeping time really helped us to complete everything. We also managed to knit in time which was our biggest worry.”
Tshuma added that Oasis Haven was a youth canter that cared for 20 orphaned and vulnerable children and provide holistic care to the children.

Elanor Karombo from the U30s said she was glad she competed in the race.
“I think every time I wanted to win but there could only be one winner. I am glad I participated.”
