Miss Earth 2022 crowned at Rosebank Southern Sun

The Miss Earth South Africa organisation tackles environmental challenges through its ambassadors who are part of programmes, projects and campaigns.

Newly crowned Miss Earth 2022, Ziphozethu Sithebe’s goals include planting vegetable gardens in all nine provinces and establishing spacious playgrounds for children in communities to enable healthy development.

On September 29, Sithebe was crowned Miss Earth at Southern Sun Rosebank alongside nine other finalists.

“At the end of my reign I would like to say I have successfully established a community vegetable garden in every province. I would also like to establish playgrounds for children in communities, and lastly inform women about alternative methods for menstruation [management],” said the 22-year-old Miss Earth.

Catherine Constantinides, Miss Earth’s judge said Sithebe joined a cohort of women who have played an important role in their communities.

“I have no doubt that she will continue to be an important part of the work done by the organisation, but also carve her own path and continue on the environmental projects that she has embarked on thus far. I am looking forward to her representing the country in the Philippines during the Miss Earth international finals, she has an incredible international platform to not only represent the country but to share work being done in South Africa to combat climate change with other countries at the finals.”
