Greenside resident takes pride in his community

Doppio Zero is Greenside's local icon.

Q: How long have you lived in your suburb?
A: I’ve lived in Greenside with my family for the past 26 years.
Both of my children were schooled in Greenside, and they now have children of their own, with the little ones starting their lives in and around the area.

Q: What is your profession?
A: Head of heritage has been my title for the last several years. The job involves promoting heritage and public art around the city, it’s work that’s also a personal passion for me.

Q: What is your favourite restaurant/entertainment area in Greenside?
A: Doppio Zero stands out for me. It was first founded in Greenside, it is a local icon which helps to anchor the surrounding restaurants and shops.
Another favourite is the Green Room at Pirates Tennis and Bowling Club. It is a relaxed space for families, the play area at the Green Room is much-enjoyed by the little ones, and is good for parents and grandparents too.

Q: What does the Beyers Naudé plaque mean to you as a Greenside community member?
A: Stories of such important figures enrich our appreciation of the area, and build a sense of local pride.
To share with others that this remarkable and inspiring figure lived in this very neighbourhood, where he struggled for social justice, makes it very special and personal.

Q: What do you do in your spare time?
A: I love playing social tennis at our local sports clubs, from Pirates Club to Marks Park.
