Norwood crime prevention apprehends man found with drugs

The Norwood police crime prevention members arrested one man found with cat and meth in his socks.

A suspect was apprehended for possession of illegal substances by the Norwood police.

Spokesperson Sergeant Eric Masotsha reported that Norwood police crime prevention members Sergeant Samuel Khang, Sergeant Thamsanga Nyalungu and Sergeant Vusimuzi Vhangani apprehended the suspect on August 22.

“While doing their routine patrols along Baker Street and Oxford Road in Melrose North, members spotted a suspicious vehicle with one occupant. The police stopped the driver and they identified themselves and asked to search him and his vehicle and permission was given. In both of his socks police found cat and meth sealed in black plastic,” said Masotsha.

The suspect told the police he was going to meet his client in Rosebank and was arrested for being in possession of illegal substances.

“The suspect was transported to Norwood cells for detention with no visible injuries. The exhibits [drugs] were booked in Sap13 as evidence before a court of law. The management again applauded the crime prevention members who did a wonderful job… the suspect will appear before a court of law in due course.”
