Parktown Girls encourages fitness through fundraising

Parktown Girls High School hosts its third run.

Parktown High School For Girls runners painted the Killarney Country Club neon during their 5km and 10km night race.

Speaking at the country club on July 29, director of sport at Parktown Girls Catherine McCreesh was impressed by the turnout. ā€œThis is our third school running event, but this is our second night run. We are fundraising for our school sports programme because there are projects we want to do which constantly need more equipment, and our sports budget is not enough.ā€

Parktown Girls learner Tamiyah Bhamjee said she did not regret running the 5km race. ā€œI took part because itā€™s for my school initiative, it was great to raise funds. I havenā€™t been keeping check with my fitness so it was good to also exercise.ā€

Another runner Lenska Tweedy added she always supported the different school initiatives. ā€œI found out about this event through my mom who is a teacher at the school. She knows my husband and I love running and supporting the school, I also love running because of the benefits it has on my mental health.ā€
