Learn new skills
Local soccer academy keeps children active during the school holidays.
The IQ Football holiday clinics are a programme for both boys and girls at Craighall Park.
The holiday clinics cater to children from three to 14 years old.
According to coach Sean Szabo, the main focus of the clinics is to encourage players so that they build healthy self-esteem and confidence in their abilities.
He said it gives children an opportunity to develop the fundamentals of football and improve their skill levels in all the key areas of the game. “The main thing is for children to play, have fun, meet new friends and practise while building a strong mindset about winning and handling disappointments during matches.”
Szabo added that the holiday clinic is divided into three parts, which are practice for skills development, fun games that are related to football, and matches. The players practise for three hours a day, with breaks in-between.
The professional football coach at IQ Football, Elvin Kumwenda, said holiday clinics are one way for children to make friends and exercise. “We try and make children active, learn all sorts of football skills and let them gain confidence, which boosts their mental side on the soccer field.”
