Meet the Parkview Sector 2 manager
Having spent 13 years in the police and the last eight years as sector manager, Makhudu says that he is aware of what the role involves.
Parkview Police Station Sector 2 manager Sergeant Padima Makhudu invites the local community to contact him and work with police to curb crime.
Sector 2 includes the suburbs of Roosevelt Park, Greenside, Emmarentia, Greenside East, Parkview, Parktown, Parktown West and Westcliff.
“The sector manager is the link between the station and the local community,” explained Makhudu.
He works with various community organisations including the Community Policing Forum, security companies, businesses and others to forge closer relationships with the police. “I enjoy interacting with the community and helping them. The community must not shy away from giving us information and helping us to bring the perpetrators to justice.”
Makhudu said that 90% of community members living in these suburbs know him, but he wants to ensure that all of the residents are familiar with him.
Having spent 13 years in the police and the last eight years as sector manager, Makhudu said he is aware of what the role involves. “Joining the police was a calling for me. I initially wanted to become a soldier but wanted to be with the community immediately, so I joined the police. I enjoy arresting suspects and seeing them behind bars.”
Spokesperson for the Parkview Police Station Captain Tintswalo Sibeko invited community members to contact Makhudu and interact with him in order to fight crime.
“He is always there to help and it is important that the community knows that they can contact him if they face any challenges,” said Sibeko.
