Police arrest five suspects for housebreaking in Parktown North

PARKTOWN NORTH – Parkview police were summoned to the scene where the suspects were handed over to police.

Parkview police arrested five suspects between the ages of 29 and 42 for housebreaking, theft and possession of the suspected stolen property in Parktown North on March 14.

A spokesperson for the Parkview Police Station Captain Tintswalo Sibeko said, “The complainant alleged that he left his home around 07:45 with the doors and windows properly closed and locked. He returned home at around 14:00. On his arrival, he noticed that a glass door was broken, his clothes, sneakers and bedding were stolen.”

Sibeko said the complainant saw two unknown men opening the gate.

She said that as soon as the suspects realised there were people in the house, they started to run away. A chase ensued and two suspects were apprehended.

Parkview police were summoned to the scene where the suspects were handed over to police.

Sergeant David Rikhotso, Sergeant Lindelihle Ntsele and Sergeant Moruti Malebatja arrested the suspects. A preliminary investigation was conducted that led to three suspects being arrested at Johannesburg Central.

“All five suspects will appear before the Johannesburg Magistrate’s Court soon to answer to charges of housebreaking and theft and possession of the suspected stolen property,” said Sibeko.

The station commander for the Parkview Police Station Colonel Devan Govender commended the police members for their commitment and dedication. He further mentioned that Parkview police will continue to serve and protect the community.
