Administration manager at the National Children’s Theatre Cindy Gordon explained, “Participating in drama, music and dance workshops gives children more cooperational skills, discipline and improved self-confidence… Moreover, theatre helps develop the knowledge, skills and attitudes necessary to be successful individuals throughout their lives.”

“The Covid-19 pandemic brought a complex array of challenges, which had mental health repercussions for everyone, including children and adolescents. Theatre helps connect the head to the heart!”

Gordon said the workshops aim to encourage children in all spheres of theatre arts. The theatre is fortunate to have top-notch experts as teachers in each discipline.

Some of the benefits of joining the workshops include:

  • Drama/theatre benefits the child academically, physically and psychologically
  • Children gain self-esteem, confidence, communication skills and self-empowerment
  • Workshops stimulate the imagination and develop concentration, language and communication skills
  • Children from different communities work together, socialise and become fully integrated, especially learning and respecting each other’s cultures.
