Kids Haven gear up for 2022 with new hope

BRYANSTON – Every child in the organisation now has the means of a bed to sleep on, summer sandals, provision of food and essential toiletry products

Kids Haven has been warming the hearts of children since its opening in 1992. The non-profit organisation (NPO) continues to extend its support to communities while giving thanks to schools, organisations, individuals and to various sponsors.

The organisation mentioned that their biggest highlight of the year was having an abundance of donations from families and companies situated in Sandton. At the beginning of the year, Kids Haven was short of mattresses, summer sandals and toiletry packs.

Generous donors from all over the country assisted the organisation with the provision of the items. Fast-forwarding to the present, every child in the organisation now has the means of a bed to sleep on, summer sandals, provision of food and essential toiletry products.

Schools such as St Stithians College, Crawford College, St David’s Marist Inanda and Brescia House School provided the children from Kids Haven with cakes, biscuits and meals during their community hours. The efforts of the learners made a few birthdays in the organisation very special for the children.

Wish list:

  • To contribute to the #7colours campaign where an individual would donate R70, the aim of the campaign is to feed families with a full meal during Christmas time
  • Dessert packs: custard, jelly powder and tinned fruits
  • Companies/organisations to host activities for 20 children and their carers at the end-of-the-year functions. The organisation is more than willing to travel to the locations that are willing to offer the opportunity to make children happy. The year restricted movement and activities for the children of Kids Haven. Contact hello@kidshaven.co.za

Founder of Kids Haven, Moira Simpson, stated how grateful she is for every item that was donated in 2021, “The work we do is blessed. The evidence is in Kids Haven surviving and thriving into our 29th year amidst incredibly challenging times. We can thank our donors for this, from the smallest bag of potatoes to paying for school fees and therapy, you made it possible. It would seem as soon as we have identified a need, it is met,” concluded Simpson.
