Melrose Arch partners with SA Harvest to make Christmas special

MELROSE NORTH – All proceeds from the Moove Motion Fitness Club’s Kids Club will be donated to SA Harvest, which is Melrose Arch’s selected charity for destination Christmas.

Melrose Arch plays host to many events throughout the year, and with the year reaching its conclusion, Melrose has teamed up with some organisations to make Christmas extra special.

Visitors to Melrose Arch will find SA Harvest Christmas trees throughout the precinct and, using a QR code, will be able to donate to this worthwhile cause, which has delivered more than 11 million meals to hungry South Africans since its inception in October 2019.

SA Harvest is a non-profit organisation on a mission to end hunger in South Africa. One of how they are doing this is by collecting perishable and non-perishable food that would otherwise have gone to waste, from farmers, manufacturers, and the retail and hospitality sectors.

The food is efficiently and safely collected by SA Harvest drivers using refrigerated trucks, transported to central warehouses in Joburg, Durban, Cape Town, and George, and, once sorted into nutritious bundles, deliveries are made to more than 200 approved beneficiary organisations that then prepare meals for thousands of hungry people every day.

Melrose Arch has also teamed up with Moove Motion Fitness Club’s Kids Club and from November 12 to January 9, young visitors aged between five and 13 will be able to enjoy basketball, action soccer, trampolines, table tennis, a jungle gym, and a Playstation-5 arcade area between 15:00 and 21:30.

“Now, more than ever, we have realised the importance of sharing special times with special people, especially our families,” said Mike Vermaak, managing director of Melrose Arch.

“The festive season is always a memorable time of the year and here at Melrose Arch, we are pleased to be able to welcome people to our beautifully decorated, safe precinct and help them create memories they will cherish forever. This year, we have a lot to rejoice in and be grateful for, so let us celebrate,” Vermaak added.

The Christmas celebrations come at the end of a remarkable year at Melrose Arch, which despite the pandemic and difficult financial times, has welcomed several new tenants to the precinct, including Turkish restaurant Istanbul Kebab, Swirl ice cream, Walkingpad, Premier Body, and Health, fashion boutiques Opulence, Jo Matthys and Chiefs of Angels, and more.
