Learners from local German school participates in fun activities
PARKTOWN – The day was filled with a variety of fun activities in which the pre-schoolers appreciated spending time with the primary school learners.
Teachers and assistants from the Deutsche Internationale Schule Johannesburg (DSJ) hosted one of the school’s many joint activities – the ‘Spielefest’ – for ‘kindergarten’ preschoolers and primary school learners.
On November 19, preschoolers and primary school learners from the Parktown-based German school participated in the ‘Spielefest.’ Games such as stilt-walking, skiing, and skipping were played, just to name a few.
Annette Holtmann, marketing executive at the school, said, “At Deutsche Internationale Schule Johannesburg, we want to make the transition as smooth and comfortable for our learners as possible.
“As part of this process, there are many joint activities organised throughout the year for preschool children and primary school learners.”
Participating learners completed many wonderful games and obstacle courses and collected stamps for their play cards.
“Taking a new step and entering uncharted waters while not knowing what to expect is challenging for everyone, just as [it can be difficult for our preschoolers moving up into Grade 1]. By playing these games, we teach the learners how to face those obstacles,” Holtmann said.
The day was filled with a variety of fun activities in which the preschoolers appreciated spending time with the primary school learners and getting to know them in a playful and stress-free environment.
Holtmann concluded, “It was a lovely day, thanks to all the teachers and assistants involved in organising all the activities.”
