Rosebank Preschool toddlers help Miss Earth South Africa 2021 plant an Azalea plant
ROSEBANK – A pink Azalea plant was planted by Miss Earth and the toddlers near the preschool kids' play area.
Miss Earth South Africa 2021, Nompumelelo Maduna visited Little Ashford Preschool in Rosebank on October 12 to teach the toddlers about plants.
Maduna spoke to the children about the importance of looking after the planet and together, she and the toddlers planted a tree.
“Trees are vital,” said Maduna, “As the biggest plants on the planet, they give us oxygen, store carbon, stabilise the soil and give life to the world’s wildlife. They also provide us with the materials for tools and shelter.”
The children also enjoyed a question and answer session with Miss Earth and were taught about the three ‘Rs’ of the environment which are reduce, reuse, and recycle.
Tamsyn Wilson, the principal of the preschool said, “We were honored to have Miss Earth 2021, Nompumelelo Maduna spend the morning with us at Little Ashford Rosebank. At Little Ashford Preschool, we believe in teaching and incorporating daily life skills at a young age. One is never too young to learn.”
