Greenside High School robotics team wows judges in international robotics expos

GREENSIDE – Greenside High School learners are making waves in the field of robotics.

The robotics team from Greenside High School recently wowed judges in the recent World Robotics Olympiad (WRO), as well as the Eskom Expo For young Scientists and the iMbewu North Gauteng Senior Science Fair.

This, they achieved under the guidance of robotics coaches Melusi Shezi and Kgomotso Maduenyane.
Among the school’s robotics team’s outstanding results were two first places in the WRO by Muhammed Hassen and Nabeel Petkar (both Grade 11). Hassen and Petkar will represent South Africa in Project SindisiBot.

The rest of the results are as follows: Muhammed Hassen: First place, World Robotics Olympiad 2021; Misbah Ismail (Grade 11): silver medal at the Eskom Expo For young Scientists, Certificate of Merit at the iMbewu North Gauteng Senior Science Fair; Muhammad Siraj Loonat (Grade 11): silver medal at the Eskom Expo For Young Scientists, Certificate of Merit at the iMbewu North Gauteng Senior Science Fair; Aaqib Khan (Grade 11): Commendation at the Eskom Expo For Young Scientists, bronze Medal at the iMbewu North Gauteng Senior Science Fair; Irfaan Ally (Grade 11): Commendation at the Eskom Expo For young Scientists, bronze medal at the iMbewu North Gauteng Senior Science Fair; Rowan Shinta (Grade 9): Commendation at the Eskom Expo For young Scientists, Certificate of Merit at the iMbewu North Gauteng senior Science fair; Nabeel Petkar (Grade 11): First place in the World Robotics Olympiad 2021; and Tshimologo Mafokosho (Grade 11): bronze medal in the Eskom Expo For Young Scientists.
