Local breaks the men’s Guinness World Record

SANDTON – Cock aims to raise R4 million for the anxiety and depression group through his ‘Mentally Aweh’ initiative.

Mental health awareness advocate and Sandton resident Henry Cock has broken the men’s Guinness World Record for the most consecutive half-marathons.

Cock officially completed his 75th half-marathon, out of 133, on September 21 to raise awareness for mental health and raise funds for the South African Depression and Anxiety group.

Amidst the chaos of the pandemic, Cock began his journey on July 8 to run from Kosi Bay in KwaZulu-natal to Vioolsdrift in the Northern Cape.

“In many ways, it’s easier for me to do a 21,1km run every day for 133 days than it is for some people to get out of bed, to face another day.

“I’d like to inspire as many people as possible to become a beacon of hope for those who suffer in silence every day,” he said.
