Teddy Bear Foundation seeks your assistance this Mandela Day

PARKTOWN – This year the Teddy Bear Clinic seeks your financial assistance to help transport children and caregivers to access their services.

Only R67 will go a long way to support, assist and guide children through their journey of healing.

The Teddy Bear Foundation is pleading with members of the public to contribute R67 that will help pay for transport.

According to the foundation, they help children heal from the scourge of abuse. The journey to healing is challenging on its own and without the necessary transport, these children will not be able to reach their final destination of the road to recovery.

The Teddy Bear Clinic has been providing services to abused children for the last 35 years and is proud of its extremely high success rate. “We do not charge for our services and were frustrated when some children did not arrive to keep their appointments,” said donor liaison officer Dalene Bishop.

“When asked why, parents said they did not have funds for transport. The travelling costs per family for therapy averages R67.00. This amount also mirrors and reminds us of Mandela Day’s 67 minutes of action to help change the world for the better.”

The foundation said they are already encouraging learners to wash cars and charge R67, take a photo of the activity and deposit the money into their account as part of Mandela Day community hours of service.

Learners will be rewarded with one hour of community service on receipt of the photo and proof of payments. Those who want to get involved can go to the Community Hours website (www.communityhourssa.co.za) or contact Sarah at sarah@communityhours.co.za
