Trio crimes increase in Bramley and Sandringham

BRAMLEY – Bramley placed 19th in Gauteng for trio crime incidents.

Gauteng released its fourth-quarter crime statistics for the period of January to March 2020/2021.

The Gazette has highlighted areas of interests for local readers.

Parkview police only featured once among the statistics, placing 22nd in Gauteng in the category of common robberies. The station recorded 43 incidents of common robberies in the recent period – a decrease of 6.5 per cent in comparison to last year.

Bramley Police Station placed 29th in Gauteng for robbery with aggravating circumstances, recording 122 incidents over the recorded period, remaining relatively consistent with a comparable 121 cases over the same period last year.

Bramley placed 19th in Gauteng for trio crime incidents. These crimes include carjacking, robbery at residential premises and robbery at non-residential premises. The station recorded 67 incidents of trio crimes over the period, indicating a 45.7 per cent increase from last year. Bramley placed 15th in the province for carjacking with 35 incidents this year – a 52.2 per cent increase from last year. They also placed 25th in Gauteng for robbery at residential premises with 21 incidents – an increase of 50 per cent from last year.

Sandringham Police Station placed 30th in Gauteng for trio crimes with 60 incidents over the recent period – an increase of 71.4 per cent from last year. Carjacking in Sandringham saw a major increase of 176.5 per cent with 47 incidents this year, placing the station in ninth place nationally.

Norwood Police Station placed 40th in Gauteng for kidnapping with five incidents over the period this year in comparison to none last year.

Bramley also placed 18th in Gauteng for sexual offences detected as a result of police action, with three incidents recorded. Norwood showed one recorded incident in the same category.
