Community members encouraged to join MyRun

PARKVIEW – Community members are encouraged to join in to keep fit as well as to earn points.

Community members are encouraged to use the park in Zoo Lake as they join the MyRun.

The running or walking activity is conducted in partnership with Rocky Road Runners and Discovery Vitality according to Rocky Roadrunners chairperson Matodzi Tshidzumba.

Tshidzumba added that MyRun promotes healthy lifestyles and is inclusive of young ones too. “The idea behind this is that while we encourage people to come for a walk/run to keep fit, they can also earn reward points. If you walk or run two laps, which are 5km, you earn 300 Vitality points and if you walk or run one lap, which is 2.5km, you earn 100 Vitality points,” he said.

He added that Covid-19 safety regulations were enforced as they encourage participants to do the scattered run approach. “Through this approach, people don’t have to gather and start running/walking at the same time. We also encourage them not to sit in groups and we make sure to sanitise them and conduct temperature checks during registration.”

MyRun takes place every Sunday from 7am.
