Joburg Water assures Glenhazel and Kew residents that water should return by the close of 6 May
GLENHAZEL – Spokesperson for Joburg Water Eleanor Mavimbela said the team are monitoring the reservoir and have noted that it is picking up well.
Joburg Water assures residents of Glenhazel and Kew that they should receive water by the close of today (6 May).
Frustrated Glenhazel resident Marilyn Braude said she still had no water on the evening of 5 May, following months of interrupted water supply and low pressure.
“The situation has deteriorated dramatically. This is an extremely dire and serious situation,” said Braude.
Spokesperson for Joburg Water Eleanor Mavimbela said attempts were made to repair the faulty valve at Randjieslaagte Reservoir on Saturday, but the team encountered a leaking pipe which added to the trouble.
“We worked on the valve again on Monday and all repairs went well. Some low-lying areas have now received water, but high-lying areas are losing pressure at night,” said Mavimbela.
“Once capacity builds up, then high-lying areas will get water again.”

She added that the Joburg Water team was monitoring the reservoir and had noted that it was picking up well.
“We hope that the areas of Glenhazel and Kew will receive water by the end of today at latest. We are doing the best we can.”
Water tankers have been dispatched to critical areas.
