Entities combine efforts to resolve taxi space issue

ROSEBANK – Affected stakeholders are being engaged on the steps which include an assessment project.

The first few steps have been taken in an effort to resolve the Rosebank taxi parking space issue.

Efforts are still ongoing to resolve the inadequate taxi parking space in Rosebank.

In a recent operations meeting on 8 April, Rosebank Precinct manager Lerato Khiba shared that the Rosebank Management District (RMD) was still engaging with the City of Johannesburg Transport in an effort to try resolve the issue.

She added that the inadequate taxi facility was a high priority for both the land owners and tenants of Rosebank. She said, “Not only is the current facility an eyesore, it also does not provide for the needs of the users and the operators.”

Khiba added that Johannesburg Development Agency (JDA) had been appointed as the implementing agency for the upgrading of the facility.

“The JDA has appointed and introduced a professional team to deliver on the first phase of the project which would assess the immediate concerns for the rank and identify a solution moving forward.

“A working group meeting was facilitated between JDA, Joburg Property Company and affected stakeholders. RMD continues to engage all stakeholders in this regard. The Transport Action Group was formed in August 2019 in response to minibus taxi issues.”
