Rosebank-based paddlers participate in Gauteng Sprint Championships

ROSEBANK – The event provided points for those participating in the Gauteng Canoe Union School League races.

The Gauteng Canoe Union hosted the prestigious Sprint Championships on 6 March, where Rosebank-based paddlers took to the water.

The event was hosted at the Victoria Lake Canoe Club, based at Germiston Lake, to enable selection for the Gauteng Sprint team to participate in the SA School Sprint Championships which take place at the Shongweni Dam at the end of March.

The event also provided points for those participating in the Gauteng Canoe Union School League races. Distances raced included 200 metres and 500 metres within the sprint lanes.

Participants between the ages of eight and 80 took part and enjoyed getting out following a year of curtailed sports events as a result of Covid-19.
