South African Women of Wonder recognised in Dubai

PARKTOWN – Director of the Parktown-based Teddy Bear Foundation Dr Shaheda Omar was among the Wow Award recipients.

Proudly South African international visionary women were recognised at the second annual Dubai Women of Wonder (Wow) awards in December.

CEO and founder of Panache, which hosts the event, Farzana Mayet highlighted the importance of protecting the health and safety of award recipients and attendees at the event, ensuring that all Covid-19 protocols were observed.

Some of this year’s recipients included director of the Parktown-based Teddy Bear Foundation Dr Shaheda Omar; CEO of Rosa van Niekerk Attorneys Rosa van Niekerk; Shamshad Begum Sayed of the South African Muslim Women’s Forum and MD of Sayed Global Productions; author, entrepreneur and award-winning financial coach Ronel Jooste and Janine Kim Myburgh of Myburgh Attorneys.

Associate partner of the Wow Awards Nazia Shah of Zoha expressed gratitude to Panache for affording Zoha the opportunity to be part of the momentous awards function, which celebrates women in their authenticity by giving them a credible platform to be appreciated and recognised.

Wow awards ceremonies are being held in several countries around the world aside from South Africa and Dubai including Mauritius, Qatar, the United Kingdom and India.

The theme for this year’s awards was ‘I Conquer’. Each recipient sent out a strong message concerning gender-based violence and how they conquered during and despite the Covid-19 pandemic.

The third annual Dubai Wow Awards is set to be held in June this year.
