Police host workshop with car guards to curb crime

NORWOOD – Masotsha and his team, led by the head of Vispol Lieutenant Colonel Samuel Makola instructed the car guards to be vigilant and report any suspicious movements of people or motor vehicles to police.

Norwood police held an educational workshop with local car guards to assist police in their fight against crime.

Spokesperson for the Norwood Police Station Sergeant Eric Masotsha explained that the workshop was held at the Nandos parking lot on William Road, Norwood, on 3 November.

“The aim of meeting car guards came as a result of great concern from members of the public, especially road users, drivers, business owners and nearby restaurants who complain that car guards threaten, intimidate and drink at parking lots,” said Masotsha.

He explained that all car guards present were registered and elected their own committee which will report any known incidents to Norwood police.

“We recruited all these car guards to help us with information about any criminal activities around the area. We will be working together in the fight against crime.”
