Flooding in parts of Joburg’s northern suburbs

JOBURG — Johannesburg Metro Police Department has sent out an appeal on social media for all motorists to exercise caution and patience on the roads.

Heavy rains on the afternoon of 5 October left various parts of Johannesburg’s northern suburbs flooded.

The South African Weather Service announced at noon that Gauteng would experience a yellow thunderstorm warning until about midnight the same day.

Residents and motorists have taken to social media to share their encounters across the city.

The low-level Belgrave bridge in Bryanston, commonly known for flooding during heavy rains, was seen overflowing both over bridge and into the nearby road.

Over at Parkview Golf Club, the gushing water presented itself as a raging river.
