Sandton SPCA gets a revamp

"We cannot wait to show off our new parking area for inspectors vehicles."

The community continues to put their best foot forward.

A group of University of Johannesburg Auckland Park campus students known as Urban Wildlife, recently spent two days at the Sandton SPCA to help neaten up the animal shelter.

The initiative, Project Car Parking Area, saw the group of civil and electrical engineering, and environmental science students spend two weekends clearing and cleaning out the inspectors’ car park area which had become a dumping ground for all sorts of unwanted items.

On 12 September, Itumeleng Sebola, Kanishka Moyo, Loyd Milazi, Thomas Shandu and Tristan Botes spent the day sweeping and clearing out the area, dumping all of the unwanted items. On 19 September, the boys repaired the parking structure.

According to the Sandton SPCA’s Wilna Lamb, the boys outdid all of their expectations. “A big thank you goes to this amazing group of young gentlemen who have come along and given life to our old parking area. You certainly have done us proud,” she said.
