The Johannesburg Metropolitan Police Department (JMPD) officers recovered a hijacked car and an unlicensed firearm and ammunition during a routine check in Johannesburg Central on 4 August.
JMPD spokesperson Wayne Minnaar confirmed that four suspects fled the scene. “Officers discovered that the Kia was hijacked in Honeydew recently and also found an unlicensed firearm inside the Kia,” he said
The vehicle was taken to the South African Police Services (SAPS) pound for verification.

Authorities are still investigating the case.
