The three head girls at St Teresa’s School in Rosebank shared messages with their schoolmates, the ‘Rosies’ in a video.

Busi Khumalo expressed how much she missed everyone and how ‘weird’ it was not to see them at the beginning of the second term. She then said, “At times like these, it’s best to pray to God for strength and support,” before reading a verse and conducting a prayer.

Robyn Shearer said the past few weeks have been an incredibly trying time, filled with uncertainties. “But we want you to remember that it is completely normal and understandable for these times to have an effect on you. We want you to remember to stay positive and productive, to exercise and stay physically healthy,” she said.

She also encouraged her fellow Rosies to take this opportunity to catch up on sleep, family time and to just do things that make them happy.

Robyn said, “Although these are challenging times, our collective perseverance has the power to make us stronger.”

Brogan Hughes recalled how much she missed all the simple things people take for granted such as walking through the school corridors and hearing the laughter, giggling, and smiling shared between everyone. Brogan also acknowledged that they were so lucky to be part of a loving and secure St Teresa’s family. She said there were amazing teachers and staff who made them their number one priority as well as great friends to deal with boredom.

Brogan said, “In the words of our president; ‘let’s keep washing our hands and keep wearing a mask and we will get through this together’.”
