A food and clothing drive held by One Small Act of Kindness and collected at Old Parktonian Sports Club was a roaring success.

Items were dropped off in bags for sorting at the sports club in Bordeaux, to be distributed to those in need by the charity.”As much as the Old Parks Sports Club is going through extremely difficult times and will be one of the last institutions that will be allowed to operate again, we felt that we could still do good and give back to the community,” club manager, Lizette Driescher said.

“We took hands with One Small Act of Kindness and coordinated a drive-through charity day on 30 April, where the local residents could drive in and drop off food and old clothing.” She said strict measures were put in place to ensure hygiene and social distancing. Hand sanitiser was also offered to all visitors at the gate.

“We had enough volunteers to ensure that the drivers could stay in the cars while we removed the donations for them. The response was overwhelming and thecharity collected about four loads in a one-tonne bakkie.”
