Provision of basic services continues during national lockdown

ORCHARDS – 'The City is working to maximise the effect and minimise the risk during the Covid-19 lockdown.'

Residents in the Johannesburg north-eastern suburbs have been assured that basic services will continue as usual during the national lockdown.

With the coronavirus lockdown curfew announced on 23 March by the state’s President Cyril Ramaphosa, some residents have been wondering if services will be disrupted.

Ward 72 councillor David Fisher has, however, reassured residents that municipal services will continue. “The City is working to maximise the effect and minimise the risk during the Covid-19 lockdown,” he said.

“Ward councillors are committed and available to assist residents with service delivery issues. Please report all issues in the usual way, if they are not resolved in a reasonable time frame residents in my ward can contact me for further action.”

Residents can WhatsApp or SMS Fisher on 082 822 6070 with a name and address, a reference number and a short description of the problem.

The councillor has access to resources to escalate unresolved issues or to get additional information on issues. “My experience up to now has been that the various entities, power, water and Pikitup are working well and are fully committed to their delivery.”
