No testing facilities for suspecting coronavirus patients in Johannesburg north-eastern areas

JOBURG – For the residents in the area of North Eastern Tribune distribution, the City has identified Eastbank Clinic in Alexandra, Sandown Clinic in Sandton and Petervale Clinic in Witkoppen as testing sites.

Even though the City of Johannesburg has identified a number of health facilities to enable people to get tested for coronavirus, there are none in the Johannesburg north-eastern suburbs.

This was confirmed by local councillors, Irene Rugheimer, David Fisher, Eleanor Huggett and Lionel Greenberg, who said people in the area still have options at neighbouring health facilities.

For the residents in the area of North Eastern Tribune distribution, the City has identified Eastbank Clinic in Alexandra, Sandown Clinic in Sandton and Petervale Clinic in Witkoppen as testing sites.

“We encourage people only with symptoms to go to the identified clinics because there are not enough testing kits available to test everyone,” said Rugheimer.

Tumisang Morapedi, facility manager at Yeoville Clinic said their facility was not a testing site but they did have a one-day drive to test people.

City of Joburg spokesperson, Nthatise Modingoane said if a clinic was not listed it meant that it was not being utilised for the purpose of testing for the coronavirus.
