Highlands North Residents Association invites residents to a meeting

HIGHLANDS NORTH – The objective is to gather and record statistics on where residents fell their needs and grievances are not being heard or addressed.

Highlands North Residents Association has invited residents to a public meeting earmarked to discuss various issues affecting them in the suburbs.

According to an executive member of the association, Lisa Blass, this is their first meeting following their establishment in November 2019 and will be held at Waverley Bowls Club situated along Stirling Street in Waverley on 25 March at 6pm.

According to the association, among other issues on the agenda, the infamous Rea Vaya Bus Rapid Transit project along Louis Botha Avenue will be discussed. Blass said other issues to be discussed include the individual portfolios that their executive members have been assigned to deal directly with them in their communities. “The executive committee team has defined the portfolios of roads and traffic, security, parks and public spaces d, utilities, noise, health and environment as well as domestic solid waste and this team has allocated these sections to each of the team members.”

“The objective is to gather and record statistics on where residents fell their needs and grievances are not being heard or addressed. These concerns are then addressed with all stakeholders in a collective forum, activities and progress are tracked and reported back on.”

She added that it is important for the community to participate and raise their grievances and issues of concern as regional councillors are invited and are expected to participate. “Their participation will enable us to gather feedback and suggestions from the majority of residents.

“Residents represent a diverse base of skills and experience in problem-solving and we intend to tap into this base to provide meaningful suggestions to the officials that have been entrusted in service delivery and regulations.”
