Defending champions TS Galaxy and Chippa United in mouthwatering Nedbank Cup clash

JOBURG -– Football lovers can look forward to mouthwatering clashes in the Nedbank Cup action beginning on 5 February.

TS Galaxy, the GladAfrica Championship outfit that engineered the biggest upset of the Nedbank Cup history when they demolished mighty Kaizer Chiefs 1–0 in last year’s cup final in Durban’s Moses Mabhida Stadium, will kick-off the latest edition of the competition.

The KwaNdebele side, which made history not just by defeating the mighty AmaKhosi in a cup final but became the first lower division side to annex the ‘David versus Goliath’ Cup and went on to represent the country in the Confederation of African Football (Caf) Confederations Cup – the first by a lower division side as well, will travel to the Nelson Mandela Bay to face Chippa United at the Nelson Mandela Bay Stadium on 5 February. Kick-off is at7.30pm.

The #NedbankCup2020 round of 32 fixtures will kick off on 5 February with defending champions away to a tricky side in the Chillie Boys who have pulled some amazing stunts in the past few weeks of the Absa Premiership 2020, beating Black Leopards away and at home.

They seem to be slowing, finding their feet and scoring boots in the premiership and as a team that plays an exciting brand of hard-running attacking football which is also a similar type of play exhibited by Galaxy, it tells you fans of the beautiful game in that part of the country are in an exilliarating display of football with a promise of goals aplenty.

One must not forget that the Chillie Boys were losing semi-finalists in the 2019 edition of the cup, and with the experience of playing in premiership football, one can rightly say the odds are heavily stacked against the Galaxy stars.

But it would be interesting to see whether they can pick from where they left off and perform another giant killing act to keep them in the running for the defence of one of the highly lucrative cup competitions in the Absa Premiership.

The last fixture of the competition, with tickets available at TicketPro outlets and selected Sasol Garages countrywide on a date still to be communicated, will be played on 11 February.
