Johannesburg books authors host second book fair

JOHANNESBURG – The organisers hope to incorporate talks, readings and question-and-answer sessions.

Friends of picture books, children’s books, young adult or scientific fiction and horror, are invited to a book fair in Randburg over the weekend.

The Randburg book fair will be held at Real Mackay, a conscious community living and events venue on Mackay Avenue on 26 and 27 October.

Highlands North resident and author Richard Edwards, known for his book The Puzzle Train, is one of the organisers and he said everyone, including authors, are invited. This is the second fair by the organisers, Edwards and fellow author John West. The first was held on 24 August at the Cosmic Cosmics on Beyers Naudé Drive in Blackheath.

Edwards said the event is free and between 12 and 15 authors have confirmed their attendance. They are looking to include readings, talks and question-and-answer sessions. “Everyone can come and the Real Mackay has a coffee shop and restaurant and a shop on the ground floor. The book fair will be held upstairs.

“We are looking at more events to promote South African self-published writers and give them an outlet to sell directly to the public. The authors cover a range of books from picture books for young children, through young adult, scientific fiction and horror.”
