The SSP programme seeks Grade 6 learners to offer them scholarships for high school

JOHANNESBURG – Do you know of Grade 6 learners, no older than 12, who achieve marks of 70 per cent and above in maths, science, and English and come from low-income homes?

The Student Sponsorship Programme (SSP) is on the lookout for children who match this criterion to award them a five-year scholarship to attend one of their 25 partner schools in the country.

The programme’s 28 matric scholars of 2018 brought home 71 distinctions in the IEB and NSC examinations, compared to a total of 52 for 2017. The programme’s top IEC matriculant, Rockville’s Katlego Mahlo, studied at St Mary’s School, Waverley and earned eight distinctions. She now studies BSc in actuarial science at the University of Cape Town (UCT) along with top NSC matriculant, Travis Bartosch from Selborne College took home four distinctions, who is studying a general BSc at the same university.
