11 suspects arrested by Johannesburg flying Squad during patrols

JOHANNESBURG – Police urge the community to partner with them in the fight against crime.


Johannesburg Flying Squad police arrested 11 suspects during their routine patrols in various parts of Johannesburg between 21 and 24 June.

The squad’s spokesperson, senior personnel officer Raymond Sambo said, “Amongst the 11 suspects, one was for shoplifting, another one for reckless and negligent driving as well as another for theft common.

“Our members also arrested three suspects for vehicle theft.”

The recovered stolen vehicles included two Toyota Corollas, a VW Golf, a Nissan Tida and a Ford Ranger, while the hijacked vehicles recovered were a BMW 3 series and an Isuzu truck.

He added that another suspect was arrested and faces faces a charge of possession of drugs, while four more suspects were held for possession of unlicensed firearms. “We recovered two Star 9mm pistols, a Norinco 9mm pistol as well as a 38 special revolver and ammunition.”

Sambo encouraged the community to continue working with the police by reporting crime and any suspicious activities in their areas.
