Yeoville police members honoured for reducing crime

YEOVILLE – This is why these Yeoville Police Officers are honoured for the work that they do.

During a recent station lecture, Yeoville police management gave certificates of appreciation to members who excelled in their duties and who go the extra mile in ensuring perpetrators are sent to book and remain behind bars.

The corporate communication of Yeoville Police Station Captain Sifiso Mabizela provided a list of members’ efforts in eradicating crime through dedication, commitment and loyalty in the fight against crime which has not gone unnoticed.

The following members were awarded:

  • Detective Sergeant MN Masimini was given a certificate for commitment and thorough investigation which resulted in 15 years’ imprisonment sentenced to a murder case that took place in 2016 and a conviction secured last year.
  • Detective Sergeant MA Phosa for the good work done in arresting a suspect for robbery with a firearm, and possession of an illegal firearm in February.
  • Detective Sergeant LB Sono for dedication, commitment and thorough investigation which resulted in a life sentence imprisonment on a murder case in 2016 and conviction secured last year.
  • Detective Constable R Hlengani for the dedication, commitment and thorough investigation which resulted in a 15 years’ imprisonment sentence for robbery with a firearm, and also for another separate case of kidnapping.

“While the management acknowledges the efforts the members that received the certificates, Colonel Phetole Mahasha encouraged other members that they should do even more,” Mabizela said.

“Mahasha encouraged the members that their efforts were also notable and that the station will now be encouraging more members through monthly certificates for hard workers.”
