The Johannesburg Metro Police Department announced their monthly crime statistics outlining the area where the majority of the arrests take place. Region E has consistently ranked highest in terms of arrests for driving while under the influence.
Sergeant Tessa Adam, spokesperson for the Metro police explained that 117 arrests took place within the Region E area, which is predominantly Sandton and Alexandra, during January this year.
The arrests were broken down as follows according to police stations:
- Sandton Police Station: 40 arrests
- Alexandra Police Station: 16 arrests
- Bramley Police Station: 29 arrests
- Norwood Police Station: 1 arrest
- Sandringham Police Station: 20 arrests
- Douglasdale Police Station: 11 arrests.
