According to Bramley Police Station spokesperson Captain Molefe Mogodi, on 10 December 2017, the three men threatened, robbed and killed Ndlovu’s employer

Ndlovu was working as a gardener for the deceased.

“The whole incident left Bramley residents shaken and afraid because, at the time, it was not known that the gardener was involved,” Mogodi said.

“The collusion by the gardener with his co-accused only came to light during the preliminary investigation conducted by the detectives who visited the scene. It revealed that the gardener had arranged with the two accused to rob the family.”

Mogodi told North Eastern Tribune that during sentencing the judge pointed out that the deceased had pleaded with the accused to spare his life, to take everything and even offered them the vehicles.

“He also reminded the former gardener that the family gave him work, they gave him a place to stay.

“Their trust grew to such an extent that they gave him the house keys with remote control.”

Each of the three men was sentenced to five years for housebreaking with intent to commit house robbery, 15 years for robbery with aggravating circumstances and life imprisonment for murder.
