Four suspects convicted for business robbery

JOHANNESBURG – The Johannesburg Central police saw the conviction of four suspects involved in a business robbery.

 

The Johannesburg Central Police Station is pleased with the conviction of four men.

Godknows Vundla, Buhlebezwe Moyo, Anthony Ncube and Mason Khanye, were found guilty of business robbery and sentenced to 15 years’ imprisonment by the Johannesburg Regional Court.

The initial crime took place on 21 February at 5.30 in Fairlands. Spokesperson Captain Xoli Mbele said, “The four suspects entered a shop pretending to be customers at the Berario Shopping Centre.

“One of them pointed a firearm at the 38-year old manager while his accomplices loaded perfumes and roll-on deodorants into a big bag before they jumped into a white Toyota Avanza.”

Security guards patrolling the area saw the suspects jumping into the car and a high-speed chase ensued. They apprehended the suspects on the corner of Gillar and Brazos streets in Fairland. The stolen goods were recovered.

Mbele added, “This good conviction is the result of diligent work done by an investigating officer of Johannesburg Central Trio Task Team Sergeant Kenneth

Nefuranyele. This should send a strong message to the community that crime does not pay.”
