#ICYMI: Police probe circumstances surrounding an Orange Grove’s woman’s death

ORANGE GROVE – The deceased has been at loggerheads with her competitors and she was once accused of kidnapping.

A family of a woman who apparently committed suicide in Orange Grove is suggesting foul play regarding her death and even disputes the handwriting on the suicide note.

It appears that Beauty Tigere, who is in the salon business in the area, committed suicide in her apartment after a fight with her competitors.

A five-page-long suicide note detailing the reasons for committing suicide was recovered by the police but the family is adamant that it is not her writing.

According to her nephew, Godfrey Tshuma, the handwriting on the ‘suicide note’ is different from that in her diary. “We’ve seen the so-called suicide note and when we compared it to the notes in her diary, it is way too different.

“We suspect there is foul play and we believe someone has actually killed my aunt because she has been fighting with these women because of their jealousy.”

Not so long ago, his aunt had a brawl with the women and they accused her of many things including kidnapping, said Tshuma.

One the women’s sister went missing a while ago and they accused his aunt of kidnapping her.

He claims that the police from Johannesburg Central Police Station came and interrogated her.

“Why would police officers from Johannesburg Central come and interrogate her if we have a police station in Norwood,” asked Tshuma.

“We believe there is foul play here and someone killed my aunt and they want to cover it up as if it’s suicide.”

An investigating officer from Norwood Police Station, who cannot be named because of protocol, said Tshuma needs to come and make a statement rather than making such allegations.

“He needs to come under oath and make that statement. At the moment I’m investigating a case of an inquest,” the officer said.

He confirmed accusations regarding the missing sister but said she has since been traced through her phone.

He said he personally spoke to her on the phone and he is expecting her to come and make a statement as well.

The officer also confirmed knowing about police interrogating Tigere but said he does not know from which police station they were from.

This is a developing story and more information will be made available.
