Yeoville shebeen owner arrested and fined

YEOVILLE – Yeoville police call on residents to report illegal drinking establishments.

 

The Yeoville police arrested and fined a suspect for dealing in liquor without a license and also called on the local community to report these establishments.

The arrest was made on 11 May at an establishment in a residential area on Dunbar Street in Yeoville.

Spokesperson for the Yeoville Police Captain Sifiso Mabizela said that the 48-year-old suspect was arrested and fined and R3 000 worth of alcohol was confiscated and destroyed.

The suspect pled guilty to the charge and paid the fine.

Mabizela said that the police need the community’s help when these illegal drinking places are established. “We need the community to help us cracked down on them. This is an ongoing project.”
