OBSERVATORY – The EdTech Google Summit brought teaching and technology together on 18 May.
The grounds of Sacred Heart College was abuzz on the first day of the EdTech Google Summit on 18 May.
The EdTech Google Summit is a two-day travelling event that engages with teachers around the world on innovative ways of teaching students through technology.

The event saw educators from various schools expanding their knowledge on how to use technology when they teach. The summit aimed to give educators ideas on how to raise their student’s ability to engage with their school material through technology and develop new ways of learning in the classroom.
The headmaster of Sacred Heart College Colin Northmore said, “I think the opportunities teachers get to learn a new way of teaching at an event like this is priceless.”
Keynote speaker at the EdTech Google Summit and educational technology strategist Ken Shelton said that the goals of the summit are to equip teachers with the knowledge of how to apply Google, their applications and other forms of technology into teaching.
He said that the summit wants to help the educator in broadening their students’ ability to learn with technology.

He added, “I hope that teachers will leave with more skills and more opportunities to use technology meaningfully.”
