Yeoville police recover 137 stolen phones

YEOVILLE – The Yeoville police have seized 134 cell phones from an unregistered shop in Johannesburg.

 

The Yeoville police seized 134 cell phones from a shop in Rockey Street on 9 May.

The station led an operation under Lieutenant Colonel Elliam Mtshali when it was uncovered that the shop was not licensed to sell second-hand goods.

Spokesperson for the Yeoville Police Station, Captain Sifiso Mabizela said that when the police arrived at the store, the suspect had fled the scene and is currently still at large. The police seized 134 cell phones, including iPhones, which are suspected to be stolen.

Mabizela said, “The investigation is ongoing. We are currently collecting information regarding the suspect and will be making an arrest soon. The shop has been closed down.”
