64 suspects arrested for various offences by the Johannesburg East Cluster

JOHANNESBURG – Some of the suspects paid a fine and others made bail while others remain in police custody.

 

The Johannesburg East police cluster have arrested 65 suspects between 6 and 8 April on charges of committing different crimes.

This according to the cluster spokesperson, Captain Richard Munyayi who said the suspects were arrested for cases ranging from possession of unlicensed firearms to possession of drugs.

The arrests are as follows:

  • 1 for bilking
  • 1 for armed robbery
  • 2 for murder
  • 2 for rape
  • 2 for shoplifting.
  • 2 for attempted murder
  • 2 carjacking
  • 2 for dealing in liquor without a licence
  • 3 for housebreaking and theft
  • 4 for possession of stolen property
  • 6 for assault with an intent to cause grievous bodily harm (GBH)
  • 6 for theft
  • 6 for common robbery
  • 8 for possession of dagga
  • 9 for common assault
  • 9 for drunk and driving.

“The police stations under the cluster worked extremely hard to make all the arrests. The management praises the Johannesburg East community for continuing on working with them and providing information when they notice anything suspicious taking place,” said Munyayi.

The arrested suspect have appeared in different courts and some paid fines while others made bail.

Munyayi said others still remain in police custody waiting for further investigations adding that the police will continue arresting those caught against the law.
