The main contractor, Murray and Dickson Construction, was primarily contracted to upgrade the stormwater infrastructure to comply with current stormwater management plans.

Rochelle Paul, the project coordinator for Paterson Park development from Johannesburg City Parks and Zoo, said the short, street park is now complete and has been handed over to the region.

Paul said Paterson Park is also complete, however, there is still an establishment period which will run up until 23 April.

“Thereafter, this portion will also be handed over to the region,” said Paul.

“We have already launched a short street park, which is open to the public.

“Paterson Park, however, cannot be officially opened yet as there are other entities that are still busy with construction on the stormwater so it’s not safe for the public. We do not have an exact date as to when the other entities will complete their construction so we are still waiting for them to advise.”
