Loss is a motivation
Highlands North – The boys' cricket league will begin in October and interested players are invited to join the club.
Hilson Park Cricket Club U13 girls team lost their first home league match by 70 runs to Randburg Girls Cricket Club.
Hilson’s coach David Mashiyi said the loss served as a motivation for the team.
“The Randburg team were the first to bat and scored 100 runs,” said Mashiyi. “Our girls managed to score 30 runs. Even though we lost our first match, I’m delighted with how the girls handled themselves, considering it was their first league match on a normal pitch with proper equipment.”
Mashiyi commended his three fast bowlers, Ashley Mohale, Resego Mogotsi and Nicole Shabalala, for their sterling bowling performance.
“All of them have really enjoyed themselves and they are looking forward to their next encounter against B Ntini, a club owned by former Proteas player, Makhaya Ntini, at the same venue on 16 September,” he said.
Hilson will take on the Caxton girls team on 23 September at the same venue and Mashiyi invites the community to support them. He said the boys league will start in October and he invites youngsters to join and be part of the team.
Interested players can go to Hilson Park on Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursdays at 2.30pm when the club holds its training sessions.
