Families invited to a unique theatrical performance in Parktown

The performance of The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe, being the first book of The Chronicles of Narnia, is currently underway at the National Children’s Theatre in Parktown.
The performance of this inventive and highly original adaptation of CS Lewis’ beloved children’s book, started on 15 August and will run until October.
The book, regarded as a best seller, has been translated into 47 languages and adapted for television, stage, radio and movies several times over.

The version, according to Sydwell Koopedi from the theatre, was nominated for the best family show by the Off Broadway Alliance Awards.
Koopedi said the book is about four adventurous Pevensie children, Peter, Susan, Edmund and Lucy.
“It’s about them discovering a tunnel at the back of a wardrobe, which leads to a strange and wondrous place – a winter wonderland where animals talk, trees walk and a witch rules the landscape,” said Koopedi.
Koopedi invites the audience to come to the theatre and let Peter and Lucy open the door and take you to Narnia, a land of never-ending winter, ruled by the cruel white witch – who makes sure that Christmas never comes.
“When provoked, she can turn creatures to stone with her wand. See the children meet Mr Tumnus, the faun, and watch them conspire with talking animals to battle the evil witch and save Narnia from a 100 years of eternal winter.”

This unique theatrical experience will run at the theatre and Koopedi said the director, Francois Theron, brings this inspiring magical story to life with the help of an outstanding cast.
Koopedi claims that this famous classic is filled with memorable moments, which are sure to keep the entire family entertained and enthralled.
After every performance, the audience will have an opportunity to meet Lucy, her family and friends.
The next performance is scheduled for 3 September, then, from 26 September to 15 October and Koopedi said there are four types of tickets.
Tickets for chairs are R120 and tickets for cushions are R100 and Koopedi said tickets for pensioners cost R100.
