Yeoville crime blitz

Yeoville – Police urge the public to help them in the fight against crime by reporting criminal activities.

 

A total of 29 suspects were arrested by Yeoville police from 25 July to 1 August and charged with different criminal offences.

Captain Sifiso Mabizela, Yeoville Police Station spokesperson, said the crimes range from assault to perjury.

The arrests were as follows:

  • 1 for rape
  • 1 for perjury
  • 1 for fraud
  • 1 for theft
  • 1 for theft out of a motor vehicle
  • 2 for possession of suspected stolen property
  • 2 for malicious damage to property
  • 2 for contempt of court
  • 2 for assault common
  • 4 for shoplifting
  • 5 for common robbery
  • 7 for driving under the influence of liquor or drugs.

“All the suspects have appeared in Johannesburg Magistrates’ Court and some have made bail while others still remain in police custody for further investigations,” Mabizela said.
